This victim who was inebriated had fallen off the bed unto the floor landing in this position with the body weight onto the neck. Positional asphyxia can occur when a person’s position prevents them from breathing adequately. This can occur through carelessness or as a consequence of an accident. An example would be someone who became intoxicated and fell into a breathing-restricted position.
