A woman was discovered hanging in what appeared to be a suicide, and due to the passage of several days before her body was found, significant decomposition had already set in. In cases of hanging, livor mortis, or postmortem pooling of blood, is often seen in the lower extremities, while rigor mortis may have initially stiffened the body before later releasing. The process of autolysis and putrefaction likely caused skin slippage and bloating, with a noticeable odor due to bacterial activity. Investigators would assess ligature marks, petechial hemorrhages, and insect activity to help determine the time of death more precisely.
