Almaty, Kazakhstan – 29 May 2013. A young couple committed suicide together by jumping off a 12-story building. The body of the girl was torn in half after landing on a fence. Friends and family did not report any suicidal behavior. According to classmates the couple had been planning to commit suicide and were active participants in an online group where suicides were discussed.

Double suicide, also known as suicide pacts or suicide by two or more individuals, is relatively rare compared to individual suicide. Most suicides are committed by individuals, and the majority of suicide cases involve people who do not have a pact with others to end their lives simultaneously.
